THE (Formerly Thane) PATHOLOGISTS ASSOCIATION (TPA) (Regn.No.MAH /1424 /15 /T / Dated 9.9.2015)
On 07.11.2013, a whatsapp group was created by me in the name of The Pathologists Association. Later we formally met and decided to go for an organization.In January 2014, we organized a meeting of Pathologists and Microbiologists in and around Thane district in a small hall near Malhar Talkies, which was a grand success.Dr.Rajeev Rao from MAPPM and Dr.Sunil Shetty from APPI ,addressed the meeting. However,the mood was not to get a branch or chapter of either associations and go independently.
Following the general body ,resolutions we registered THE Pathologists Association (TPA) under Societies Registration Act 1860 and Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 on 09/09/2015. We divided our activities in two areas ,1. A fight against illegal laboratories, and 2.academic activity like CMEs.
We appealed at MMC against Dr.Sanket Joshi for signing at multiple Laboratories.Also complainted at civil surgeon THE, who took the cognizance and has conducted enquiry against Dr.Usha Sasane and was found guily.Action is ensued.Thirdly we complained at Thane ,Bhivandi ,Ulhasnagar ,Badlapur Corporations with proof against illegal pathology labs.
As a result TMC issued show cause notices to such nearly 56 labs. Few labs got closed but the association of technicians came with the letter issued by Medical Education Dept Of Govt of Maharashtra ,dtd.23.09.2011,disallowing action against such laboratories.As a result ,TMC is coming out with a proposal of Registration of Pathology Labs to control the illegal and bogus labs.
An association started to cater the Thane City Pathologists is now a strength of 150 spread from Vasai to Vashi ,Kandiwali to Dombivali ,Virar to Vikhroli , Bhiwandi to Badlapur and Uran Alibag to Dahisar.
To challenge the govt circular we thought of and accordingly submitted a Writ Petition in Mumbai High Court along with inaction by MMC and the signing Pathologists issue.In Jan 2015, we started with a CME at KMF Foundation Auditorium Attendance of just 9 did not demoralize us and we applied for MMC accreditation, which we got immediately. Then we have never looked back. The attendance and the joining of new members is only northwards.
On the day of Website Launch 16 April 2017 ,we held our first ever conference.
The purpose of this website is an easy access to all the members about the past ,present and future activities of TPA. its a link between TPA and public al large to know about the TPA approved Laboratories in their area along with any concessional offers for the needy groups and walk-in patients.
After the success of conference we thought to make TPA state wise & decided to rename it as “The Pathologists Asscociation”, with success successful CME now the strength is touching 250. At corporations like Thane, Mumbai, Ulhas BAgar, Kalyan Dombivai, Meera Bhayander, Vasai Virar & Bhiwandi as well as collector office we submitted our memorandum to implement Hon SC order & HRC order with immediate effect. We met the Medical Education minister Shri Girishji Mahajan & the chief secretary of Maharashtra. But till date the Govt has not with drawn its 26/05/2016 circular staying its 2 days prior (24/05/2016) order to take action against Bogus illegal labs under Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act 1961
This is contempt of Hon Supreme Court & HRC, Govt of Maharashtra. Today on the relaunch of restructured website we resolve to protest the inaction of State Govt & TMC for non implementation.
